in 1993 i felt bad for all that had happened, and put it all behind me secure in the knowledge that my city was too strong to be broken by this. in 2005 i took great pride in the fact that my city come out resolute and unbroken from the worst floods ever. in 2006 i cried for hours when a friend went missing during the train blasts, and was only consoled when i heard her voice hours later on the phone. this time around there's no resolve, no disillusionment, no pride, no purpose, no spirit, no voice, no gladdened heart, nothing. something has changed and i get the feeling my city will change with it. |
